REELcorrugated
Optimised packaging protection and visual impact whilst reducing the carbon footprint to nearly net zero – the corrugated being powered by food waste – another world first.
What is it?
Corrugated which can be litho, flexo, screen or digitally printed to provide high impact branded graphics for packaging, POS and display products.
World first?
It certainly is! REELcorrugated is manufactured in the UK from food-waste powered corrugated at Corrboard UK, which has its own anaerobic digester at their Scunthorpe site. A great example of this working in practice; is where we take a client’s fish waste and convert into bioenergy, and then re-supply the client with corrugated packaging, which is almost carbon neutral: Click HERE for details.
Will my box or display be carbon-neutral?
Unfortunately, not. The corrugated manufacturing process is by nature, energy intensive, usually driven by fossil-based power. In partnership with The Swanline Group (leading trade printer/converters of corrugated and other fibre-based materials) and part-owner of Corrboard and Corrboard Bioenergy, it is now possible to make corrugated with a much lower environmental impact. The corrugated manufacturing process is carbon-neutral, but there are still carbon impacts of paper supply, downward conversion, and transport, but it is significantly better.
Does it cost more?
No. In some cases we can design and supply litho-laminated corrugated at a lower, or comparable price as high quality flexo-printed corrugated, which will provide greater flexibility and lower set-up costs. This is certainly true with POTS & Co, where we supply their range of retail carton and SRP display packaging for premium desserts.
What’s the lead-time?
From a standing start on a new pack sign-off, typically 6-8 weeks is achievable, but once we have a forecast in place and artwork organised, we can deliver within 2 weeks from order or call-off.
